Malang is a city located in East Java Province, Indonesia. This city is the second largest city in East Java after Surabaya, and the 12th largest city in Indonesia.
This city was founded during the Dutch Government on April 1, 1914 with E.K Broeveldt as the first mayor. This city is located on a plateau covering an area of 145.28 km² which is an enclave of Malang Regency. Together with Batu City and Malang Regency, Malang City is part of a regional unity known as Greater Malang.
Tourism in Malang City is quite large. In 2016, the recorded number of domestic tourists in Malang City was 3,987,074 people, while foreign tourists were 9,535 people. The number of tourists in 2016 was a significant jump from the previous year. By looking at this evidence, the government is optimistic that the number of tourist visits, especially foreign ones, will continue to increase.
